We enter the upper room with Jesus, where His hour has come. Everything He was sent to do is complete, and now He walks toward the cross. Though the world rejects Him, He loves His own to the very end. We marvel that the Son of God kneels to wash the feet of His followers, showing that true greatness is found in service and humility.
In this act, we see more than water and a towel. We see a love willing to stoop low and a love willing to be broken on the cross. Judas walks away into the night, but even then Jesus reaches out in mercy. We are reminded that without His cleansing, we have no part with Him.
Then comes the new command. We are called to love one another as He loves us, with a love that does not stop at words but is proven in sacrifice. This love is how the world will know we belong to Him.
At the cross, horror and glory meet. What seems defeat becomes victory, for the Lamb of God lays down His life so that we may be clean. We echo heaven’s song: worthy is the Lamb who was slain, worthy of power, wisdom, and glory forever.
