Paul begins this chapter talking about prayer. How would you describe your prayer life as of late? Have we “devoted ourselves to prayer” as mentioned in Col. 4:2? Merle confessed that his prayer life lately could be described in three words, namely, “in the cracks.” And do we pray for our authorities or do we complain about them and make fun of them when they stumble on the airplane stairs or on their words?
And then we looked at the last half of the chapter, about the women. What is Paul’s deal? Did he realize that by the time we are reading these words that his message will be almost 2,000 years behind the times and hopelessly outdated? Furthermore, Paul wasn’t married; did he have some prejudice towards women? Was he a male chauvinist perhaps? Listen further to get a picture of God’s plan for men and women which, while politically incorrect, is actually quite beautiful indeed.
