In this sermon, we explored the theme of courage in the face of fear, using the story of Moses from the Bible as our guide. Our world is filled with fear and anxiety, but as followers of Jesus Christ, it’s time for us to be courageous. Moses encountered God through a burning bush and was called to deliver God’s people from slavery in Egypt. Despite the devil’s attempts to compromise and keep the people in bondage, Moses refused to give in. He stood strong in his faith, taking his family and possessions with him as he followed God’s plan.
Like Moses, we must not fear compromise or the challenges that come our way. We should fully commit to following Jesus in all aspects of our lives, integrating our faith with our daily activities. Just as God equipped Moses when He called him, He will also provide us when He calls us to act. Our faith should not be separated from our work or daily lives. Instead, we must live boldly and unashamedly as Christians, even if it means facing opposition or being seen as different by the world.
Throughout the story of Moses, we see parallels between Pharaoh’s tactics and the devil’s attempts to lure us away from God with compromises. Pharaoh wanted Moses to worship God but stay in Egypt, or to leave Egypt but not take their families and possessions. Moses refused these half-hearted compromises, and we must do the same. We must come out of the world and not let fear hold us back. God’s power is greater than anything we might encounter, and He will help us overcome our fears.
The key is to trust God and stand strong in our faith, just as Moses did. When we fully commit to following Jesus, fear loses its grip on us, and we can face any obstacles with courage and freedom. Let’s take inspiration from Moses’ example and be fearless in the face of fear, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.
