In this sermon we’ll explore the meaning and importance of communion in the Christian faith. Communion involves sharing deep thoughts and feelings with Jesus, creating a close, personal relationship with Him. This practice isn’t just a ritual; it’s a way to remember and honor Jesus because He instructed us to do so. When we eat the bread and drink the wine, we are reminded of His sacrifice and love for us. Communion is a time to reflect on our daily relationship with Jesus, ensuring it is heartfelt and genuine.
Communion is also a significant act of Christian worship, where bread and wine are shared to symbolize Jesus’ body and blood. This service is a moment to remember Jesus’ life, His teachings, and His ultimate sacrifice. Jesus wants us to come to Him with our burdens and promises to give us rest. By participating in communion, we acknowledge His love and sacrifice, which offers forgiveness and salvation to all who believe.
The Bible, particularly in Matthew 26, details the events of Jesus’ last days, including the Passover meal He shared with His disciples. During this meal, Jesus revealed that the bread represented His body and the wine His blood, both given for the forgiveness of sins. Despite knowing He would be betrayed and crucified, Jesus used this moment to teach His followers about obedience and sacrifice. His example shows us how to live in faith and devotion.
Today, we face decisions about how we live our lives. Will we love and follow Jesus like the woman who anointed Him with oil, or will we turn away like Judas? Our goal should be to live in communion with Jesus, worshiping Him and making sacrifices to follow His teachings. Jesus is worthy of our love and devotion, and we should remember His sacrifice every day. By doing so, we can grow closer to Him and live out His message of love, forgiveness, and salvation.
