A wealthy woman in Shunem shows kindness to Elisha, giving him food and even building a room for him to stay in. She expects nothing in return, but Elisha promises her a son. At first, she hesitates to believe, but a year later, she holds her child. Life is good—until the unthinkable happens. Her son suddenly falls ill and dies in her arms.
Instead of falling into despair, she lays him on Elisha’s bed and sets out to find the prophet. When asked if everything is okay, she simply says, “It is well.” Deep inside, she is grieving, questioning, and desperate for help, but she still chooses to trust God. When she finally reaches Elisha, she pours out her pain. He goes with her, prays over the boy, and miraculously, the child comes back to life.
Life is full of pain, loss, and moments where we don’t understand what God is doing. Sometimes we can say, “It is well” with confidence, and other times, we struggle to believe it. But God is always at work, even when things seem broken. He meets us in our grief, hears our cries, and holds every detail in His hands. One day, because of His power and love, all will truly be well.
