In this sermon, Sonny talks about a passage from the book of Isaiah in the Bible. Sonny discusses how Jesus is like a personal teacher to us and how he needed his father’s instructions every day.
Sonny also tells a story about a teacher who was able to handle unruly students because one student volunteered to take the punishment for another. Sonny compares this story to how Jesus took our punishment for our sins.
Sonny says that Jesus is like a suffering servant because he suffered and died for our sins so that we can be forgiven. Sonny also talks about how Jesus was determined to go to Jerusalem even though he knew he would face suffering and death there. Sonny talks about how Jesus spoke words of comfort and taught people along the way.
Sonny explains that Jesus was beaten, had his beard pulled out, and was mocked and spit on, but he did not turn away or hide his face. Sonny says that God vindicated Jesus and he was justified. Sonny explains that because of Jesus, we can be forgiven and made right with God.
Sonny ends by asking if we fear and obey God and urging us to trust in Jesus and rely on him as our light in the darkness.
