Jesus faced his most difficult hour with courage, love, and obedience. Throughout his ministry, Jesus often said, “My hour has not yet come.” But in John 12, he declares, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” This hour is the time of his suffering and death, the moment when he takes on the sin of the world.
Jesus approaches this hour with resolve. Even though he struggles in the garden, praying in agony, he submits to the Father’s will. His suffering is marked by betrayal—Judas turns him over for silver, Peter denies him, and the disciples abandon him. He is mocked, beaten, and crucified, yet in the midst of it all, he prays, “Father, forgive them.”
His suffering is deep—his body is torn, his face unrecognizable. But this is not just an hour of pain; it is an hour of love. Jesus willingly endures it all for us. And when he cries, “It is finished,” it is not a cry of defeat, but of victory. The work of salvation is complete.
Now, Jesus is glorified. He is our high priest, our Savior, and the one who understands our struggles. Because of his sacrifice, we are forgiven, freed from sin, and welcomed into God’s family. May we live in gratitude, remembering the love Jesus showed us in his finest hour.
