We’re reminded how important it is to leave a godly legacy. A legacy isn’t about our name or what we earn. It’s about how big God is in us and what we pass on to our children and those around us. We think about the choices our dads made, many that were quiet sacrifices, to love, provide, and be present. We realize how easy it is to take that for granted.
Being a father means more than working hard. It means showing love, spending time with our kids, saying “I’m sorry,” and pointing them to Jesus. We’re challenged to ask: are we making time for what matters most? Are we teaching our children about God through how we live?
It’s not easy. We walk through valleys. We make mistakes. But God uses discipline to grow us, just like we correct our kids out of love. We’re encouraged to stay rooted in God’s Word and love, even when life feels shaky. That’s how we stay standing.
Our gifts are for others. That our children need us to show up, listen, and lead them to God. And when we truly imitate our Heavenly Father through love, mercy, and faithfulness, our children and others will see Jesus in us. That’s the legacy we want to leave.
