Today, we reflect on the greatest rescue story ever: God coming to save us. Just like stranded astronauts or boys trapped in a cave need rescuers to come to them, we need a Savior. Jesus, the Word, becomes flesh and comes to us. He doesn’t stay distant. He enters our world, fully human, so He can redeem us and understand us.
John tells us that Jesus is with God from the beginning and is God. He creates everything, yet when He walks among His creation, many don’t recognize Him. But He still comes, becoming one of us to break the power of sin and death. He knows our struggles, our weaknesses, and our temptations because He lives in human flesh just like us.
Jesus doesn’t just show us a rescue plan — He is the plan. He comes to dwell with us, to give us a way out. Like the divers who go into the cave to save the boys, Jesus goes into the darkness of our world to bring us back to God. His example shows us how to live, love, and follow Him.
This is the amazing truth: the Word becomes flesh to rescue us. All we need to do is reach out in faith.
