We focus on being sober and watchful for Christ’s return, comforting each other with this hope. Just as finding Jesus brings comfort about loved ones who’ve died, we’re reminded that Jesus is coming back, bringing judgment that’s a blessing for believers.
We shouldn’t be ignorant about those who’ve died in faith; our sorrow has hope because God will bring them back with Jesus. At his coming, with a shout and trumpet, the dead in Christ will rise, and we’ll be caught up to be forever with the Lord, so we comfort each other with this. The day of the Lord will be unexpected. As children of light, we must watch, be sober, and put on faith, love, and hope. God saved us from wrath for life with Jesus.
We’re urged to respect leaders, live peacefully, guide the unruly, help the weak, be patient, pursue good, rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks, not stifle the Spirit, value God’s word, test everything, hold to good, avoid evil, and return good for evil. We greet each other in love and share scripture, trusting God to make us blameless until Jesus returns.
So, let’s encourage each other, watching and being sober as we await his coming.
