Jesus is not only part of an old story. He is alive and working in us today. He is God, the light of God’s glory, and the One who holds all things together. He is greater than Moses, and everything God has done points us toward Him.
Through Jesus, we can come near to God. He is our perfect High Priest, standing between us and God. Earthly priests grow old and die, but Jesus lives forever. He is always praying for us, and He saves us completely. We do not need to live in fear when our hearts are turned toward Him.
Even in dark times, God promises something better. Through Jesus, He gives us a new covenant. His law is written on our hearts, our sins are forgiven, and we can know Him for ourselves. The old way is only a shadow, but Jesus brings us into the true light.
Still, we must ask what Jesus means to us. Like people rescued from a sinking boat, we may want to carry our poor supplies with us. Yet Jesus has everything we need. We can leave our little life raft behind, trust His care, and rest in the truth that He saves us to the uttermost.
