In this message, Merle is beginning a book study from I Timothy. Why Timothy?
- Most of Paul’s letters were to churches; Timothy is a letter to one individual. That Paul, busy church planter, though he was, would take time to care for a single individual, that’s special!
- Timothy was young. While not all of us are young, Covenant Fellowship is a young church. The young need much encouragement and exhortation. Young churches do as well.
- Timothy was somewhat unusual. He wasn’t a Jewish “Pharisee of the Pharisees” as was Paul. In fact, he was what we could call a “half breed”. His mother was Jewish but his father was a Greek. There is power in a story where a person is yielded to God no matter what their circumstances.
So, let’s dig into I Timothy and be encouraged!
